The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
