A group of ten sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A persistent conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his high school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
